Blog

Welcome to our Burn View Blog! A blog is a really strange thing to start because it has no history as it is in the 'here and now'! So here goes - It has been a much better year in the garden than it was in 2009.

The vegetables are all growing as we watch them and we are eagerly awaiting the flowering of our lilies. Stargazers are my favourite. They link with the late 1920's history of Burn View and smell so delicious. It is a lovely feature of the house that I still know the people whose father built Burn View in1923. It makes me feel connected to the landscape of our beautiful Derwent Valley.

Burn View has now been open as a Bed and Breakfast for a year and we have come a long way in that time and made many new friends. I have wanted to share Burn View with others for a long time now and it offered a place of rest to the Romanian Veterans Olympic Athletes team when they were rained out of their temporary campsite. (At the time I was in Lyme Regis in Dorset but had let the key with a friend!)

Andy and I love the house and want to share it with others. We have met some fascinating people since we 'opened' our small B and B. We are genuinely sharing our home and this blog will, I hope, help us keep in touch with our guests past and future.
